God is good...
... and the manna is everywhere
What is your place in God’s economy?
Today, the phlebotomist who took my blood gave me a little “manna moment”. She was frustrated. The printer that prints the labels for the vials was giving her fits. As she fussed with it, fretting about the long line of people waiting for her, she absently asked me which arm she should use to take my blood.
I had already rolled up my sleeve, and when I showed her she exclaimed with a smile, “Oh, thank you, Jesus!”
I laughed and nodded, “Yep, that vein just pops right out and says hello.”
Then she began to tell me about how she was doing 30 days of prayer, and that she thought she needed it to be 30 days of fasting too because she was being tested. We went back and forth about how God tests us to strengthen us. And as she stuck the needle in and then popped in the vial, she said, “See there, God’s good.”
I have to tell you, I always turn my head away when I’m getting blood drawn. It makes me a little queasy, but this time I looked, and she was right. That little vial was filling up just perfectly. For her, it was a big deal.
God is good.
The Lord is good to all,
and his compassion is over all that he has made. Psalm 145:9
I’ve told everyone on here about the trying month we’ve had with this move and that there are still a few other loose ends we’re working through. Those loose ends are beginning to get tied off, and I’m feeling a bit jubilant.
Yes, my friends, God is good.
I also had a second manna moment today. As I was scrolling through Facebook, a friend of mine who’s attending seminary made a long post about how the season she’s in as she finishes up her studies is a little bit trying. Lots of us replied to give her words of encouragement, but it was one mutual acquaintance of ours who really struck me. She mentioned how her husband had preached that weekend about faith. She said, like our friend, that she was a planner, constantly plotting out what the next step will be. Her husband reminded her that scripture doesn’t tell us that we need big faith to get where God is leading us.
Only faith the size of a mustard seed…
He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:30
I think that was my faith in the last month-only the size of a mustard seed. And yet, God is good. He showed up in big and little ways, and I’m grateful for all of the people in my life who helped water that tiny grain of faith in my life.
But I’m also reminded that I may be called to do that for others. I have to be aware of the opportunities to be the “manna moment” for someone else.
Because if I’m not, if I’m not offering the food and water that helps replenish their faith, then I am not working for Him.
So, my friends, God is good…

The journey …
I’ve been asked more than once what I will do in our new home, new town. In other words, will I find a new job…
And I don’t really know yet. Financially speaking, I’m a little young to retire, but I would love to spend more time writing and more time on this fledgling ministry of walking with others in closer relationship with the Lord. I don’t really know exactly what that will look like, but I’m trusting God is leading me.
